Ivette Rojo

I am a Mexican painter currently living and working in Spain. My work explores painting as a space where the visible and the invisible meet, where emotion, memory, and symbolism quietly surface through the material itself.

Working primarily with oil and watercolor, I approach painting as a process of transformation. I am deeply interested in the dialogue between control and surrender: allowing water, pigment, and layered surfaces to guide the image as much as my own hand. Through this process, figures and symbols emerge slowly, carrying traces of vulnerability, mysticism, and human fragility.

My paintings often exist in a suspended atmosphere, somewhere between dream and reality, where subtle gestures and symbolic elements invite contemplation rather than explanation. I am drawn to moments of transition: states where something is dissolving, becoming, or revealing itself.

I have exhibited my work in galleries and museums in Mexico, France, Portugal, and Spain. Living between cultures has shaped my artistic voice, allowing me to weave together personal memory, spiritual inquiry, and material experimentation.

I studied Fine Arts at Universitario Bauhaus in Puebla, Mexico, where I developed the foundations of my artistic practice. My formation combines formal academic training with continuous independent study in painting techniques, art theory, and visual culture.

Throughout the years I have continued my studies at institutions such as the Real Academia de San Carlos, the Barcelona Academy of Art, and the Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART) in Mexico City. I have also pursued theoretical studies through programs at Harvard University, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad de Palermo, and Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas.

In addition, I have complemented my education with independent programs and studio-based research at Atelier Madrid and Atelier de Porto, deepening my exploration of figurative painting and contemporary artistic practice.
