Luke Sullivan

Born in Singapore Lives and works in Sydney and LondonLuke Sullivan's work provides an unusual insight into the current visual dialogue of post-modernism. Working across a range of mediums, his work explores urban street culture, war, terrorism, religious iconography and established social mores. Sullivan's black sense of humour and occasional mocking of the art world have become signature elements in his work.More recently, Sullivan became the focus of international media attention following the exhibition of his challenging work "The Fourth Secret of Fatima". Condemned by politicans and religous groups, the piece became "the most talked about sculpture of recent times". Australian Prime Minister John Howard denounced the work as "gratuitously offensive", the Daily Telegraph called it "the most controversial work since Andres Serrano's "Piss Christ" and "stirring furor" in The New York Times.
