Jag Prabhu (b. India) is an American artist based in Connecticut. His multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting and process-driven works that engage elemental forces, material experimentation, and the human condition.
Prabhu received a diploma in graphic design from the Bandra School of Art in Mumbai. At the same time, he trained as a classical percussionist, performing as both a soloist and accompanist; an early immersion in rhythm, structure, and movement that continues to inform his visual work. In 1983, he moved to New York and studied advertising at the School of Visual Arts. He went on to work at leading international advertising agencies, developing a parallel career alongside a sustained studio practice.
Over the years, Prabhu has worked with quiet intensity, allowing his art practice to evolve outside prevailing trends. His work moves fluidly across materials and processes, shaped by an ongoing investigation into the body, impermanence, and the elemental forces that form and destabilize human experience.
Prabhu’s work is held in private collections in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Asia. He lives and works in Connecticut.
