I have had many conversations with people who do not like abstract paintings because they can’t understand them. They want the solution instead of asking questions. My answer is always that the art needs to be felt, not understood. If my paintings can evoke any kind of emotion, then I have succeeded.

I am driven by the process of creating - I rotate the canvas multiple times and have multiple layers. It is a therapeutic process where I just put paint to canvas. I use Asemic writing to enhance the element if mystery and intrigue, as well as oil pastel, pencil, graphite and chalk.

There is the appearance of text but with a mysterious vacuum of meaning which is left open for the viewer to interpret. I find it a meditative expression of listening to my thoughts, intentions or affirmations and then allowing the substrate to drift along the canvas. Sometimes it is slow and soft, and other times fast and frenetic.

I do not have an end goal, but rather let the painting appear through the chaos at which point I change my tone and become more delicate and soft, focussing on the details and allowing the composition to take shape.
