James Livingstone

James Livingstone is a contemporary British artist and sculptor exploring landscape, environment, place and human intervention. His practice encompasses sculpture and abstract painting, combining organic forms, geometric structures, texture and colour to explore the relationship between the natural and built environment.

Livingstone’s sculptural work often incorporates laminated wood, oxidised metal and mixed media, drawing on his interest in post-industrial landscapes, architectural forms and the regeneration of spaces reclaimed by nature. His recent paintings move towards a more abstract expressionist approach to landscape, using colour, atmosphere, light, texture and seasonal change to evoke a sense of place rather than depict it literally.

His work has been presented through international art platforms, including Artsy and Saatchi Art, and he is represented by Nikitin Gallery in New York.

In September 2026, Livingstone was longlisted for ArtEvol 2026: A View from Everywhere, an international open-call exhibition to be presented at Saatchi Gallery, London.
