Jana Vizjak was born in 1956 in Ljubljana, where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, completing her post-graduate studies in painting under Prof Janez Bernik in 1982. Since then she has been a free-lance artist.

Between 1991 and 1996 Jana Vizjak was a student and guest lecturer at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Prof Gotthard Graubner. She has held solo exhibitions in Slovenia, London, Carinthia and Düsseldorf, and has participated in important international group exhibitions. Among other awards, she has received the student Prešeren Award, the Jury Award of the International Painting Festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer, the Grand Prix of the Alpe-Jadran exhibition at the Ljubljana International Graphic Art Centre and the Lorenzo de Medici Award at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence. In 2005 she was acknowledged for significant works of art from the senate of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Ljubljana. In 2006 she was acknowle...
