Juan Diego Arango is a Colombian visual artist and fine art photographer with a background in Systems Engineering. His work explores the boundary between reality and imagination, transforming everyday places, objects and situations into unexpected worlds through photography and digital image manipulation. Driven by curiosity and a passion for visual storytelling, he creates images that invite viewers to look beyond what is familiar and discover their own interpretations.

His artistic journey has received international recognition, including being selected as a winner of the ENFOQUE CONECTA photography contest in 2020. In 2024, he was invited to participate in the Más Allá exhibition at the MAJA Museum in Jericó, Colombia, presenting works from his series Cautiverio, Árbol de Vida and AdPortas. Selected works from Cautiverio and Árbol de Vida have also been exhibited at the Parque de la Conservación in Medellín.

Based in Colombia, Juan continues to develop his artistic practice, exploring imagination, transformation and the poetic possibilities of photography—creating images where reality becomes something unexpected.

In 2015, Juan began his formal exploration of photography through courses in photography and digital image editing. Since 2017, he has continued his photographic development through personalized studies and mentorship with Colombian photographer and professor Alberto Montoya.

Under Alberto Montoya’s guidance, Juan developed a particular interest in fine art photography and the creative possibilities of transforming reality. His work combines photographic technique, digital manipulation and elements of surrealism and figurative photography to create images that go beyond visual documentation and invite the viewer to discover new meanings and perspectives.

In 2024, Juan was invited to participate in “Más Allá,” a group exhibition at the MAJA Museum in Jericó, Colombia, where he presented works from his series Cautiverio, Árbol de Vida, and AdPortas.

From August to December 2024, selected works from his Cautiverio and Árbol de Vida series were exhibited at the Parque de la Conservación in Medellín, Colombia, bringing his photographic work to a broader public in a cultural and environmental setting.
