Liberated after 33+ years in print advertising for Major Motion Pictures, producing posters, lobby displays and grand scale outdoor public displays, for the last 7 years, I've been making paintings based on the excesses of those kinds of presentations. Remnants of printed paper scraps become the working material for painted and collaged compositions, abstractions and occasionally landscapes.
The current series, NFS, alludes to transforming materials that no longer serve their intended purpose — that of selling the consumer a ticket, a product or an experience.
Many of the paintings featured here were offered for sale at THE OTHER ART FAIR Sept 5-8. http://la.theotherartfair.com
