In 1996, as a result of Jorge Carretero's individual effort to consolidate a private collection of antique
Mexican photography, a photography Archive is constituted. This preservation and
recovery effort was then significantly and gradually expanded , giving rise in 2001 to the
charter of a Photographic Library, with its own Facilities and Exhibition Gallery - The Fototeca Antica.
Now Mr. Carretero is sharing images from his private collection and making them available at Saatchi Art for your enjoyment.

In total we have curated, and exhibited, a total of 16 Photographic Exhibits. The images comprising these exhibits come from the repository of the Fototeca Antica. The Museums and Institutions include the Museo Nacional de Arte, Centro de la Imagen, the Biblioteca Nacional José Vasconcelos, the Museo Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Museo Palacio de Iturbide, in Mexico City; the Museo Amparo, San Pedro Museo de Arte, the Galerías del Palacio, the Casa del Caballero Águila, the Fototeca JuanCrisóstomo Méndez, in Puebla; the Centro Fotográfico Álvarez Bravo, en Oaxaca, and the Witte Museum, of San Antonio, Texas, among others.
