Jacqueline CHESTA graduated in English at La Sorbonne Paris IV and got a diploma in International Relations from Sciences Po Paris before obtaining a Fulbright scholarship to study Newspaper journalism at Syracuse University, New York.

Throughout Jacqueline CHESTA's varied career in journalism, arts and cultural management she has also enjoyed a selection of acting roles in stage and cinema, and has cultivated a parallel career as an award winning painter.

She studied art and living model at the Place des Vosges Public Art School in Paris.
She then spent 10 years practising water colour and its techniques at Jean Louis Morelle‘s studio in Montreuil. She has been practising wet on wet watercolour technique in her landscapes, still lives and popular genre scenes such as cafés and meeting places where people are happy to socialize.

Regular exhibitions in Paris, and the Paris area since 1993, notably at France Telecom, at the Bastille Grand Marché de l’Art Contemporain, or at the Paris Townhall.
or abroad, such as in the USA (New York, New Orleans), or Europe(Luxembourg) .

Prizes and awards

Jan 1996 Watercolour Prize of Chatenay-Malabry’s 41st Artshow.
1999 -2006 Aux Fruits des Arts gallery in Meudon.
Sept 2000, Prize from the Versailles Compagnie Régionale des Commissaires aux comptes
October 2000, 2015 Paris City Hall art exhibition.
June 2001 she got the award from the City of Versailles for a water colour entitled La Taverne Moritz, café concert, around 1867.
2002 La Maison des Arts de Bagneux exhibited a series of her cafés watercolours.
2004 Cafés and Guinguettes at France Télécom Espace Alleray.
2005 personal exhibition in Lagny sur Marne, Maison fluviale during the Marne Festival.
May 2006 Bronze Medal Award from the Arts Sciences et Lettres society at Grand Hotel Scribe, Paris.
She was filmed for a French Television program on Brasseries de Montparnasse on France 3 tv channel in 2006.
June 2012 Lumières de Louisiane, Maison des Arts de Bagneux.
December 2012 Passerelle 2012, Maison des Arts de Châtillon.
