About Julie Denis

Julie Denis is a contemporary abstract artist. Self taught, with a background in physical geography science (earth, ocean, biosphere) she began her artistic journey very young. But it is during a breast cancer that she realized what really manners in life. She took numerous workshops and courses in art to improve her technique. Then she began selling her work during fairs and exhibitions.

Her artwork is held in private collections world-wide and in corporate collection such as Le Renaissance complexe. She was also featured in a poem book where a writer was inspired by her work to write a text. Her artworks are also exhibit in different art gallery and she was twice on the homepage of Saatchi online gallery.

Her art process is often intuitive but she always have in mind her love for nature and colors. About forest, flowers, mountains, stream, lake and clouds. And all the souvenirs of her grandparent's cottage and the wonderful region of her town, Cowansville. She was born in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) and now lives and work in her studio in Cowansville (Québec, Canada).

She uses acrylic paints but often add mediums, collage, spray paint, pencil, marker on either canvas, wood or paper. Julie’s curiosity helps experiment lovely paintings with multi-layered process. These imaginary landscapes inspired by reality study the flow of energy that we can see in the natural environment

Her kayaking trips on the lake near her house are very inspiring. She memorizes shapes, colors and sounds to return to her studio and transpose it in her own way on her canvas.

Painting is like a meditation for Julie. Her works have been described as - a colorful imaginary world inspired by nature that puts a balm on the soul. She creates abstract landscapes in multi layers to reveal in a way the very essence of the life that surrounds us by its forms, its colors and natural complexities.

Julie invites use to take a moment and reconnect with the environment and maybe revisiting memories of a trip in nature. Her mission is to add more colors and happiness in this modern world sometimes a bit too much negative.
