Jihea Kim

I am Jihea Kim, a UK-based fine artist specialising in one-of-a-kind oil and acrylic paintings. My work blends realism, impressionism, and abstraction to explore the quiet elegance of nature, memory, and emotion. Each piece is created with layered brushwork and carefully prepared surfaces, aiming to evoke atmosphere and connection.

Originally from North Korea and now living in Southampton, I draw on cross-cultural inspirations and a lifelong passion for visual storytelling. I work primarily on canvas using high-quality materials, with an emphasis on timeless, collectible art. All of my original paintings are signed and come with a certificate of authenticity.

My goal is to create artwork that brings peace, reflection, and beauty into your space.

My journey into painting began through the online course by Gary and Kathwren Jenkins, whose classical techniques in oil painting laid a strong foundation in realism and floral composition. Under their inspiring instruction, I learned the importance of layering, soft blending, and capturing subtle beauty with intention and care.

As I continued creating, I found myself drawn beyond the boundaries of formal instruction. Through years of daily practice, experimentation, and quiet observation, I gradually developed my own distinctive voice—rooted in classical technique but free in spirit. My work now blends realism, impressionism, and abstraction, shaped as much by intuition as by training.

I consider myself a lifelong learner—guided by nature, emotion, and the ever-evolving language of paint.
