ARTIST STATEMENT
“Passion, Creativity, Spirituality – this is my artistic core. Painting is a conversation, a relationship, a dance between me and the subject I am painting. Images either inspire or emerge as they will. Faces, flowers, perhaps a humble salt and pepper shaker…I never know what will beg to be painted, but once my soul is aroused, the alchemy begins.

I am besotted with gouache and ink, and all the more so after I varnish a finished painting with wax. The sheen of a buffed gouache painting rivals the gleam of an oil painting. Oils, too, hold their allure – I find them irresistible. In early 2014 I returned to acrylics to see if i could discover their magic, and have! All these media continue to unfold their many secrets and for whose ongoing tutelage I am deeply grateful. I love PAINT!”

Art - self-taught artist, though I do enjoy attending an occasional workshop. I draw my greatest inspiration from Skip Lawrence, whom I consider my main mentor.
