Jo Anne Helfert Sullam

JoAnne Helfert Sullam is an award-winning wildlife and landscape artist based in Saugerties, New York. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Who’s Who in America, Art Business News, “The Best of Sporting Art” in Polo Players magazine, and on the cover of Chronicle of the Horse. She received Special Congressional Recognition for Work in the Arts.
A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, JoAnne creates paintings and mixed-media works that reveal the deeper connection between humans and the natural world. Her art comes from direct experience — time spent with animals, quiet observation in the wild, and a lifelong commitment to conservation.
She has worked as an animal handler and assistant on television productions and magazine shoots, collaborating with renowned zoologist Jim Fowler on wildlife segments for programs including the Today Show. She has also conducted interviews with Richard Gere, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and concert pianist and animal advocate Hélène Grimaud.
JoAnne is the author of several books, including A Force of Nature, Evolution of a Wild Heart, Wild Hope: Art of the Subconscious, and the Totem Within guided journal series.
