Jodi Ferrier

Jodi Ferrier is a Washington, DC–based artist whose contemporary paintings exist in the space between abstraction and representation. Working intuitively, Ferrier creates paintings that capture fleeting moments of beauty, memory, and emotional connection through expressive brushwork and luminous color.

Her creative process is driven by a sense of urgency and discovery. Some paintings emerge quickly, preserving the energy of a single moment, while others evolve through layers of observation, experimentation, and response. This ongoing dialogue with the canvas allows each work to move beyond representation, conveying a sense of optimism, wonder, and possibility.

Inspired by landscapes, gardens, interiors, architecture, and the human figure, Ferrier creates work that invites viewers to slow down and find beauty in the everyday. Her paintings range from intimate studies to large-scale works and are created on canvas, wood, and paper.

Ferrier is the recipient of multiple Artist Fellowships from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and has participated in prestigious artist residencies in the United States and abroad. Jodi Ferrier has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the Washington, DC region and beyond. Recent solo exhibitions include All That We Gather at Georgetown Lombardi Center (Washington, DC), Take Me Away at Dwell Fine Art + Craft (Hume, VA), exhibitions at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD), MiXt Corner Gallery (Brentwood, MD), and Workroom Coop (Washington, DC). Her work has also been featured in exhibitions at the Katzen Arts Center, Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery, Susan Calloway Fine Arts, Jo Fleming Contemporary Art, Martha Spak Gallery, The Art League Gallery, Montpelier Arts Center, and 2nd Street Gallery, among others.
