Jodine Waghorn

I am a New Zealand-based photographer with a deep passion for capturing the beauty, spirit, and stillness of the natural world. My work spans black and white and vibrant colour photography, focusing on wildlife, landscapes, and the subtle moments that are often overlooked.

With years of experience and recognition in exhibitions and photography competitions, my practice is rooted in storytelling and emotional connection. In 2025, I achieved significant recognition across multiple international competitions, including Finalist and three Highly Commended awards in the prestigious Mono Awards, Highly Commended in the Creative Landscape Awards, and three placements in Ted's Photographer of the Year: Finalist (Black & White), Commended (Creative), and Top 20 (Creative).

Each image is crafted to invite the viewer into a quiet encounter — a moment of reflection, presence, and appreciation for nature's detail and rhythm. Through my lens, I explore the balance between light and shadow, complexity and simplicity — always seeking the extraordinary in the everyday.

As a self-taught photographer, I have honed my skills through years of hands-on experience and a deep passion for capturing the natural world. Without formal training, I’ve developed a unique eye and creative approach by exploring, experimenting, and learning from each image I create. This journey has allowed me to connect authentically with my subjects and express my vision with originality and heart.
