John Gavan

I studied art throughout my life. I obtained a first class honours degree in Art and Aesthetics in 1998 from Cardiff University. Later I gained a teaching degree at college level.
My career ended due to Sufferng ME/ Fibro Myalgia. Due to low finances I began to paint on cardboard boxes and cheap acrylics initially, the graduated to oil. I tend towards figurative art/portraiture but developed to become a more rounded artist incorporating landscape into my work. I’m passionate about my art. I see it as a wonderful expression of life and a Means of communication. I was brought up in th countywide but lived in he city for many years. I now live in the Rhonda Valley of south Wales, combines the rural and industrial, mining country. I see my work as more than a literal depiction, but spiritual and sublime.

I was educated at Cardiff university obtaining a fist class honours degree in 1998.
In 2002 I achieved a post graduate degree in education.
I see life as one great leaning curve, I’m still learning!
