Jolene Morin, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal who transforms everyday objects into soft textile sculptures made from sublimated velvet. Inspired by popular culture, she recreates familiar items - household products, packaging, and domestic objects - giving them a soft, sculptural, and slightly absurd presence.
Each artwork is produced as a unique piece. Although the works sometimes resemble cushions or objects associated with comfort, they retain the status of collectible artworks, creating an ambiguous relationship with the viewer. Can the object still be used, or should it now be contemplated as a precious art piece?
This tension between banality and preciousness lies at the core of her practice. By transforming ordinary consumer products into unique collectible objects, Jolène Morin plays with humor, nostalgia, and our emotional attachment to everyday items. Her work blurs the boundaries between design, consumption, sculpture, and memory.
Through sculpture, installation, and performance, she develops immersive environments where “softness” becomes a visual language and a conceptual tool in itself.
