Jonathan Dailler is a French artist and filmmaker. His eye was shaped by light, silence and in-between moments, those suspended instants that cinema taught him to seek. He feeds on his waking dreams, his nightmares, his moments alone. But above all, he loves letting himself be guided by something intangible, yet undeniably there. Shooting exclusively with vintage lenses, his favorite being a Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm from 1953, Jonathan believes in minimal retouching and never crops his images, a discipline that demands everything from the moment of capture. Working primarily in black and white, his photographs inhabit a space between dream and reality, deliberately open. Open to interpretation. He likes to see them as abandoned doors in the middle of a vast prairie. What lies behind, belongs to you.
