I understand why they call it a practice now.

It is the passing that I try to cultivate, the happening of a painting, a sensitivity to the magic of it's appearance, the music that comes through. Synesthesia.

But there are always negotiations, and so much labor, and guessing, and questioning of intentions: the circles. My art is how I try to handle my mistakes, how I deal with pain and loss and memory, and try to make beauty from that; it is highly analytic, in this sense.

I think of my pictures primarily as American.
Californian, maybe.
They are a form of dance, I think.
