I enjoy allowing images to emerge from my subconscious onto the paper or canvas. Myth, dreams and Nature, inform my work: it's about reflecting, observing, feeling, communing with the beauty, energy and peace of ancient natural landscapes. I practise traditional draughtsmanship also, and love the focus and peace that drawing brings.
My paintings are usually in oil or watercolour, many painted over 20 years of holidays in the mediterranean, experiencing different light and landscapes.. Others are large expressionist pieces painted in my studio. Painting in the studio is for me a flow of energy translated into colours, shape and texture; it is about glorying in the feel of the paint and allowing images to flow to the canvas and so I may play and experiment. I love painting: it connects me to love and life and drawing too, brings peace and calm. My website is being redesigned but will be on

I am a first class honours graduate and a postgraduate teacher, educated as an artist, English Literature scholar. I studied art at Leicester de Montfort University B.A. in paining
