Digital art, and many years of therapy, has led me to finally understand that what I needed to do was strip away. What is, now, left on the page is the pure emotion. This comes through texture, shapes, colour; all of which are placed with precision, sometimes leaving a disjointed, uncomfortable feeling, other times flowing smoothly between each element.
For so long, both in terms of art and personally, I was afraid of space, nothing good could come with space, so it had to be filled. Now it is that same space, the nothingness, the white noise, the quiet that can be found there that brings me peace.
By working digitally, I can start with a hectic, busy canvas and then take away; pieces go through multiple changes, and I will generally leave them alone for long periods of time before returning.
