Jody Scott Olson is an American painter whose work explores memory, atmosphere, and the emotional residue carried by people, objects, and places. Working primarily in oil and mixed media, she moves between portraiture, still life, landscape, and more intuitive abstract processes, often allowing paintings to evolve through revision, discovery, and chance.
Her recent work is rooted in themes of remembrance, quiet observation, and interior experience. Figures emerge from pale atmospheric fields, florals dissolve into shadow, and landscapes become reflections of emotional rather than physical geography. Whether painting a remembered face, a vase of flowers, or an open field, Olson is drawn to the space between recognition and memory.
After a long interruption following a serious accident, Olson has returned to painting with renewed focus, rebuilding and expanding a body of work that spans more than a decade. Her paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States as well as internationally, including England and Australia.
Olson lives and works in Minnesota, where she continues to develop interconnected collections of portraiture, florals, landscapes, and experimental mixed-media works united by a shared interest ...
