My figurative paintings hold memories of a longing for and a rejection of an identity cast upon me. Growing up a first generation woman, I was inundated by images of how women are seen in society, and I am questioning what that means to me. Remembering past struggles to fit in informs my work. I use images of women from online clothing catalogues as stand in's for imagined self portraits. Through a process of personal reconciliation I imagine myself in place of that person, and if I could be her, this is what it would look like.
