Julia Holt

I completed an MA Fine Art with distinction in August 2022 and now work from Hertfordshire in the UK. My work as a painter and printmaker involves looking closely at poetry and other narratives and creating imagery from the emotional state generated by the stories and their truths using colour and markmaking as a way to portray this.

An important element of my work is the psychology of the people, I look at the many different ways in which to express the hardship and joys of humanity and use my own experiences to touch on the deepfelt emotions and extraordinary resilience of the human condition.

Being able to express myself through painting, drawing and poetry is truly wonderful and gives me a great sense of fulfilment. I only hope that I manage to put this across in my work and that other people can gain some pleasure and enjoyment from the artworks I have produced.
