Exploring the intersection of man and nature, I try and show the beauty and ugliness that exists in our culture and world. This dichotomy can be found in everything and is essential to our survival and possibly to our destruction. I mostly hope my work inspires personal reflection and invites individual interpretation and feelings.
Inspirations and themes that run through my work are; travel, nature, biology, shells, plants, trees, maps, war, earth, water, wind, fire, desert, spirituality, patterns, color, archaeology, culture, patterns, environment, extreme climate, population, sustainable development, farming, resources, refugees, floods, drought, scars, evolution and natural selection.
The work is mostly mixed media including: acrylic & spray paint, watercolors, collage, drawing (pen, pencil), ink, encaustic, scraping, burning, sewing, yarn, crochet, quilting and found objects.
