Justine Kuran

I am a self-taught artist in the ancient practice of 'quilling' or 'paper filigree'. I have been working full-time on my craft from my home studio for the past nine years. All works are original, three-dimensional pieces made entirely from hand-rolled, curled, shaped, cut, folded and glued strips of paper. In addition to my original artwork I have also taken images of my work to create greeting and gift cards, tea towels and limited edition prints.

In 2018 I held my first solo exhibition - Paper Round.

Over the years I have been fortunate to be commissioned to create gifts for many international guests and local dignitaries including Hollywood legends, Goldie Hawn and Jane Seymour, former Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, Australian Prime Ministers, Scott Morrison and John Howard, Former UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, former Foreign Affairs Minister, Julie Bishop, Australian of the Year, Rosie Batty and inspiring leaders such as Dr Susan Alberti and the Honourable Linda Dessau.

I am inspired by the scope of the works of Ai Weiwei, the political statements of Banksy, the pop art of Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring and the extraordinary use of colour by David Hockney.
