Kalon Celeste

I am Kalon Celeste (Shivani), an artist, a 1997 born misfit for all the matrix norms. I studied textile design at NIFT Kannur and this whole college experience was not just far way from home (Delhi) but far away from my assumption of the creative world. I realised how shallow our perspectives can be ( or may be it was just the age).

During the pandemic era I started taking my art more seriously and started experimenting with watercolours, all signed under the name Kalon Celeste ( kalon: beauty more than skin deep ), with a vision to enable the viewer to see humans beyond the physical reality, apprehend our own multilayered reality and the galaxies of consciousness.

Watercolour is my main expressive medium however I often mix various mediums and materials as well.

As I broaden my understanding of life I have come to appreciate scared geometry as seen in the mosques of Iran and Uzbekistan, and all of that in Blue! Surreal as it is, this colour has taken over my works and I am for it!

Blue to me is a search of place beyond the dimensions that are accessible to us as humans, a peace that we have yet to know.

I am a self taught artist, learning through life experiences, connections, curiosity and embracing the vigour to practice and experiment.
