Award winning artist Karen Hammat runs a busy arts practice from her hand-sculpted cob studio/gallery at Yankalilla in South Australia where she alternates between portraiture, abstract painting and fibre arts. A passion for colour and for experimenting with materials and techniques informs her practice. Her work features in private collections in Australia, the USA and Europe.
In 2005 Karen completed a Bachelor of Visual Art and Applied Design O'Halloran Hill College of TAFE
Karen has exhibited in solo and group shows in a number of
Australian galleries. These include Scarlatti's Gallery, Clare, Red Poles Gallery Mclaren Vale, Wirra Wirra Winery and Angoves Winery Mclaren Vale. Artistic license Gallery North Adelaide and Untether Gallery in Geelong Victoria.
In 2020 She was a finalist in Australia's premier landscape exhibition, the Glover Prize. In 2021 she was a semi-finalist in the Artbox 3.0 exhibition in Zurich.
Karen frequently mounts solo and group exhibitions in her own studio/gallery.
