Karen Zelnick

My drive to be an artist started when I was very young – at the age of four or five drawing on my mother’s kitchen walls (and she left those drawings up until they day they sold the house). I’m motivated by a desire to express emotions and experiences that words don’t seem to be enough for, such as endurance and hope. My art isn’t perfect – some parts I get exactly right, but some parts are messy and some parts are rushed. But there’s beauty in that for me because I think it parallels life. Life isn’t perfect; some of it is messy, but when we step back and take a look at it in one grand whole, it’s beautiful.
