Katarzyna Wasilewska

I create contemporary paintings that explore what we feel but rarely say out loud — the tension between closeness and distance, safety and exposure, control and surrender.

My practice moves between two bodies of work: Beyond Words, where masks and rhythmic structures become a visual language of human relationships, and Ether of Life, a softer, organic series inspired by nature and inner states — calm, longing, renewal.

I work primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, building layered surfaces and refined color contrasts that change with light and distance. Each painting is meant to hold a quiet presence in a space — an image you return to, not just pass by.

All works are signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

(b. 1976, Poland) is a visual artist working primarily in painting and collage. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland, where she earned her diploma in Painting and Drawing from the Faculty of Graphics and Painting in 2015. A member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists. Wasilewska deepened her artistic knowledge during her studies, which continue to inspire her creative development.
Her practice explores both the natural world and the inner landscapes of human emotion and identity. She is particularly interested in symbolism, allegory, and the emotional depth conveyed through visual metaphors.
Wasilewska’s two most significant painting cycles are Beyond Words and Ether of Life.
Beyond Words centers around the recurring motifs of the mask and chessboard, drawing connections to themes of theater, role-playing, and interpersonal dynamics.
Ether of Life uses the delicate image of butterfly wings as an allegory for transience and sensitivity, inviting viewers to reflect on the ephemeral nature of life.
