Kathryn Beesley is a mixed media sculptor whose dark and smokey work focuses on texture and structural decay. Referencing the skeletal nature of Lesley Risby’s sculptural forms a well as the narrative illustrations of artists such as Yoshitaka Amano and Kay Nielsen, Beesley’s sculptures explore the ramifications of a family history of suicide and depression in a culture that treats mental illness as taboo.
Born and raised in rural Idaho, Beesley received a BFA from Brigham Young University - Idaho in 2006 and now resides in Boise with her husband and pet carpet python, Evee.
