Artist Statement:
My work encapsulates layered dimensions of perception which exist beyond the veil of reality. I allow my imagination to wander freely, exploring nature, architecture, portraiture, and abstraction; always searching for the "aha" moment of transformation into otherworldly realms.
Bio:
Katina Desmond is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice combines traditional, experimental and hybrid techniques to infuse her images with enchantment and double entendre. She does not use AI.
Katina Desmond’s work is exhibited in art galleries, art fairs, and included in numerous public and private art collections and publications.
Katina currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in Topanga Canyon, California, a rural, isolated atmosphere that inspired her imagination. Both her parents were professional artists and her grandfather was an avid photographer of early 1900s’ Alaskan wilderness.
Katina studied fine art, photography and graphic design at Otis Art Institute, Santa Monica College and UCLA. She is a founding member of 4260 Black & White Photographers Guild, an artist member of Los Angeles Art Association and served on the board of Pasadena Society of Artists.
