Louisiana artist Kelly Mills (b. 1989) initially explored architecture, influenced by his familial ties to Robert Mills. Following studies at Auburn University and an MFA from SCAD, he moved to New Orleans in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Working as a Senior Art Preparator at a premiere fine art gallery, Mills is continually surrounded by artistic stimulus. His paintings are created through a spontaneous process of layering and dissecting, aiming for harmony and unity with weighted marks that possess a tangible presence. The rich artistic landscape of New Orleans undoubtedly informs his evolving practice.
