ABOUT
EDUCATION
Kerry Mondragon is an American artist, filmmaker, and fabulationist whose work moves between painting, photography, cinema, and found imagery. His practice is rooted in analog processes, chance, memory, mythology, and the strange emotional residue of American landscapes and popular culture. He wrote, directed, and edited TYGER TYGER, WETIKO, and MASCOTLAND
Working intuitively across mediums, Mondragon often uses distortion, layering, abstraction, damaged surfaces, and accidental marks to create images that feel both familiar and unstable. His work occupies a space between documentary reality and fabulation, where memory, invention, and lived experience begin to blur.
He lives and works between Los Angeles and the California desert.
Autodidactic. My education developed through independent study, filmmaking, and hands-on production. A formative experience was supporting Spike Lee’s Kickstarter campaign, which led to the opportunity to assist him during production—an experience I consider my film school.
