Ketki Athavale

I am a contemporary painter working with oil and acrylic on canvas, based in India. My work moves between figurative painting and landscapes, often centered around a shared sensibility of stillness, texture, and quiet emotional presence.

In my figurative work, I paint women in moments of solitude and ease—unobserved, unguarded, and at rest within spaces that feel safe. These figures exist not as narratives, but as states of being: inward, reflective, and self-contained.

Alongside this, my landscapes and floral works explore a similar emotional language through nature. I am drawn to dense textures, layered surfaces, and organic forms—gardens, blooms, and natural environments that feel intimate rather than expansive. These spaces are not depictions of place, but impressions of mood.

Across both bodies of work, my process is intuitive and layered. Working with oil and acrylic, I build surfaces gradually, allowing forms to emerge through accumulation rather than control. This slow construction mirrors the way I experience memory and emotion—soft, layered, and never fully resolved.
