Shirley Khng is a young artist who takes a healthy interest in her belief that life is a box of chocolates. Hence her repertoire of daily activities include reading unnecessary books, watching incessant shows and having a lot of fun creating artworks. She has worked in the city that never sleeps, shouted at many students in a government school, put on an apron to paint outside Takashimaya Shopping Centre, put up the map of China for a commissioned work at Wilkie Edge in 2010 and assisted in playing paparazzi at the Singapore Art Museum for Vertical Submarine at the Night Festival 2010. Her recent Final-Year Project at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in June 2011 explored enclosed spaces and her group exhibition Inside & Outside at the Substation Gallery in 2010 deals with the perplexities of life. She was interviewed by the Moving Visuals Co. Pte Ltd for the Arts Forward Series on OKTO in 2010 and was recipient of the Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholarship in 2010-11.
