RECOGNITION
Karolina Kijak-Dzikońska is a Polish nature artist, illustrator and visual science communicator whose work is rooted in close observation of birds, wildlife and the natural world.
Birdwatching and ornithology are an important part of her artistic practice. Many of her paintings begin outdoors, with direct observation and encounters with animals in their natural habitats.
Working primarily in watercolor, Karolina combines naturalistic detail with a soft, atmospheric approach. Her paintings often place wildlife within fragments of its environment, creating a sense of a real encounter rather than an isolated portrait.
She is the author and illustrator of *Skrzydlate Akwarele* and has also created illustrations for the board games *Meadow* and *Pergola*.
Alongside her artistic practice, she explores visual science communication, using art to share knowledge about nature in an engaging and accessible way.
She lives and works in Poland, where local landscapes, birds and wildlife continue to inspire her work.
