My paintings walk the line between representation and abstracted elements. I have always found great comfort in the landscape, an association or strong alliance between myself and the land travelled. I have become fascinated by light, the changing seasons and the ever changing condition of the landscape scene. My work intends to be a reaction to the essence of a place. Some of my paintings are based from instinctive drawing "˜en plein air' while other work derives from a memory or instinctive reaction to a place visited. Often I finds inspiration from fast compositional studies drawn in situ, which start the process of understanding the place. Conversely, sometimes I re-visit sites time and again, and it is through this exploration and adventure that I can develop a deeper understanding of the landscape and what it is that connects with me. i am a self-taught painter having used it in my studies of landscape Architecture and Urban design. I have exhibited both in London and in Surrey for many years and currently is the Head of Creative Arts at Priors Field School, Godalming.
