Konyeha Benjamin

Konyeha Benjamin is a Nigerian visual artist whose practice centers on the human body as a psychological site; a place where emotion, memory, and restraint accumulate. Working primarily with figurative painting, he explores inner tension through distorted anatomy, compressed gestures, and subdued yet charged color palettes.
His figures often appear caught mid-thought or mid-withdrawal, suspended between exposure and concealment. Limbs bend inward, torsos carry weight, and faces suggest emotional residue rather than direct narrative. Rather than idealizing the body, Konyeha treats it as a vessel that absorbs lived experience; anxiety, silence, vulnerability, and endurance.
Influenced by intuitive processes and emotional storytelling, his work leans toward a contemporary surrealist sensibility, allowing forms to shift and exaggerate without abandoning figuration. Each painting is approached as a quiet psychological encounter, inviting the viewer to sit with discomfort rather than resolve it.
Konyeha lives and works in Abuja, Nigeria.
