Kristina Murray

Canadian artist and avid painter in both oils and acrylic, and I am based in Ottawa, Ontario. Growing up in rural Ontario gave me a deep affinity for wide open spaces, farms and fields, wildflowers, gardening, big lakes, big skies and hiking in nature. I also travel a lot so scenic landscapes, eclectic urban scenes, country roads and my local heritage are the rooted in my art practice. My paintings stem from my appreciation, sense of peace and nostalgia that I get from my dedicated art practice.

I love sharing and inspiring creativity in any form. I am training as certified Art Therapist and a proud Mom to a creative child. I like to keep my art fun -not overly complicated, using a painterly expressive style, splashes of colour and whimsical subjects are a few of the details in my work. My semi-abstract landscapes and floral paintings are uplifting to paint and I strive to translate that happiness in all my work.

For the past ten years I have attended professional development workshops and private lessons from professional, acclaimed artists all over North America. It is wonderful to travel and study, and immerse myself in art while exploring new places and meeting people. Although I am classified as 'self-taught', learning is easy when you surround yourself with inspirational people and great mentors.
