My parents were both artists so I came by it genetically and naturally. I started doing art as soon as I could hold a crayon. So one could say that I have been creating all of my life. This is the most productive time thus far.
I grew up in Connecticut and have lived and educated here and in Montana, where I received my Masters. While out West I became very much interested in Native American art and traditions. My work began to portray this influence. I created large totem drawings and hide paintings.
When I moved back to the New Haven area I left the West behind. There is a piece of it, of course. lingering in my current paintings. I was not producing for over two decades due to illness. Now my work is flourishing and color has taken the front seat! Texture is a part of my equation, too. I have been very comfortable with this combination of techniques although my work continues to grow and change. So there aren't only answers, just questions.
