Kristina Widell-Plamondon

I am a vegan artist living in Shuswap, British Columbia. Where I live, I am surrounded by lakes, forests, and nature. I find solace in the outdoors around me, especially in the warmer months. I feel most at peace when I am in nature and painting.

I paint because it feels most authentic and natural to me. When I am painting, time flies by unlike anything else I do. I am able to release emotions I can’t say out loud, and with each painting I create, I find myself becoming more and more my authentic self.

When I share my work online, I enjoy pairing a piece with a song that reflects the emotions I felt while painting. I want the viewer to connect with a piece from their own perspective and their own desire for authenticity.

What does one see, and what does one feel, when they look at a piece? That is what it is all about.. my creation stirring something inside me, and hopefully inside the viewer and collector as well. I want to bring vitality back to those who feel they may have lost it.. like I did.

I grew up in a creative household, learning about art from my mother, a professional artist and art teacher with a Master of Fine Arts. Being around her and her work shaped how I see and make art. While I’ve always loved creating, I didn’t start dedicating true time to painting until 2024. Since then, I’ve been fully committed to developing my skills and exploring my creativity through focused studio practice, while also integrating my activism for animals into my work.
