Ksenija Koloskova

I am a contemporary watercolor artist, who expresses her ideas through the prism of realistic subjects, letting the color and light guide the viewer into the realm of emotions, memories and dreams. I was born in Moscow, Russia in 1985, moved to study abroad at the age of 22 and have been a wanderer since then. Traveling extensively, often by myself, taught me to connect to cities in a very personal way, making architecture one of my favorite subjects. I frequently use frontal compositions, as if painting a portrait of a building or a group of buildings. By combining representation and abstraction, I paint cities not as they are today — or as they ever existed — but as they live in my recollections intertwined with fantasies and daydreams. I am currently based in Geneva, Switzerland. My work is in private collections in the U.S., Argentina, Belgium, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia, and has been admitted to juried shows worldwide.

I started studying art more than 10 years ago, while living in Italy, focusing mainly on various graphics techniques. Later I specialized in watercolor and printmaking at The Art League school in Alexandria, USA, where I first started exhibiting my work in group shows. I also took workshops from many acknowledged watercolor artists, eg. Joseph Zbukvic, Susan Abbott and others.
