Larissa Zanata Morais

I am a Brazilian artist who finds in animals a way to explore quietness, simplicity, and a sense of belonging in nature. Raised on a farm during my childhood, I carry with me the memory of a slower life, deeply connected to the countryside, an experience that today becomes a source of research and expression through painting.

In my work, I portray animals in moments of rest and contemplation, immersed in their environments and everyday lives. Horses grazing in open fields, birds perched on branches, and felines at rest become images of an unhurried life, seeking to evoke in the viewer a sense of stillness, comfort, and the desire to be there.

I work primarily in oil on canvas and watercolor, exploring color, value, light, and composition to create atmospheres that convey these feelings. More than simply representing animals, my work seeks to create small visual refuges, moments in which the viewer can slow down.

My artistic education is based on self-directed study, focused on animal observation, painting practice, and continuous experimentation with oil and watercolor techniques.
