About Larry Simon

Larry Simon takes his inspiration from seemingly everyday objects, surfaces and scenes to create dreamlike narratives shrouded in a sense of the unknown: the Inner World residing in our subconscious--a place where we cannot fill in all the blanks.

As a photographic artist, he often works with a blend of sharp and soft focus, presenting his work in photo collage form or as digital prints.

A constant roamer, Larry Simon is based in Chicago.

Influences: Gerhard Richter, Saul Leiter, Haruki Murakami, Alfred Brendel

Education

Trained as a journalist and classical pianist, Larry was a sportswriter and award-winning advertising copywriter and creative director before turning to photography. He is mostly self-taught.
