Leda Maria Prado

Leda Maria was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. "I dream in vivid color. Sometimes the red is so bright that I cant believe it exists inside my head. I paint in layers of color. Each layer that I paint exposes a new dimension. The shapes that are formed dictate my direction. I always know the subject well, but I dont know the final interpretation until the last layers are applied. All of my abstracts contain an element of surprise. And serendipity is part of the plan."Leda has been painting since she was 13 years old. All of Ledas works express her own unique sensitivity to light, as well as form and color, yet there is an underlying visual strength that showily surfaces in all her works.She uses many different media. There is no limit to the various materials that might be used in achieving certain effects. She can combine incongruous shapes and objects and make them work together with unusual skill and sensitivity. Leda is an artist through and through. She is one of the best. She received her BFA from Fatea University of Arts in Fine Arts in 1997 and her MFA from FAAP University in Art History in 2002.
