Lisa Gronseth paints on paper and mylar, then cuts and assembles the pieces. Through layering and collage, she creates the buildings and landscapes in a process that literally constructs illusionistic spaces. Lisa Gronseth received her MFA in painting from Yale University and her BA in philosophy from Reed College. She has traveled extensively in China, India, Pakistan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Northern Africa; and she has lived in England, Taiwan, Spain and the United Arab Emirates, where she taught at the American University in Dubai. Her work has been exhibited across the United States and in the United Arab Emirates. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon and teaches at Portland State University.
