Cheng-Yung Li

Born and grew up in Wujiang, Kinmen. Its great natural environment as well as the diverse species of birds nourished my art DNA.

Since long ago, birds have always been the symbol of human souls. We all hope our hearts can be freed so that we may soar in the universe spiritually. I have my reasons for painting birds; my growing up in an environment close to nature is what made me fall in love with it in the first place. When I was in class demonstrating to my students how to draw birds, I always did it while saying to myself, “I am a bird!” My students always laughed at me for doing so because I truly believed myself was a bird then.
