I do not remember when my creative journey began. I have always felt compelled to draw. My parents would bring home huge sheets of paper from the butcher's that I could cover with intricate drawings in strange 1980’s ballpoint markers. I had no patience for colouring books, preferring, even then to depict what only my own imagination could conjure.
With a natural affinity for composition and story-telling, it was recommended that I study Graphic Design at Perth Technical College, which in hindsight, was not the best advice.
I was a student of typography and design, but I am a self-taught fine artist, which has given me the freedom to develop naturally, slipping between influence and technique… to explore what I found most pleasing, exciting or intriguing. I have honed my skills over many years and have never lost my urge to capture the image conjured by my inner eye. Art for me is not so much a passion as a compulsion, something that is essentially part of who I am. It is the vehicle through which I calm my incessant need to move and channel my excessive mental energy to find not only a stillness of mind. But the satisfaction of creating something beautiful.
